some bad …..some good Friday, Aug 8 2008

So the letter came ………… the ‘you stink’ letter! No job for me. I will endeavour to get me one of those local government jobs if it kills me.

On the adoption front, my niece’s reference letter is done and sister in-laws just about to be sent. Phew that’s it on our part, the rest is up to the DHS waiting line. Actually back to job’s, I noticed that there was a administration job going at my DHS office, I thought about it, thought how much easier would it be to get assessed if I work there? But they are always saying how short staffed they are, I give you its always social workers and the like that are short but how bad must it be to work at that office if they are the ones that are always short staffed??

So now it will just be a matter of time till we reach the top of that list, you can’t get a clear answer to how many people are waiting however I have been told that one other couple from the education group have there stuff complete and in, so they are ahead of us, but I thought that we were way behind considering that there were 7 couples from our region at the education training.

So other than that there is really nothing else I’ve got to share except that we are getting a new 42″ or 50″ Plasma TV. D is feverishly working overtime to pay for it (get gets cash in hand for overtime) so will have it paid within 3 weeks. Then its the trip to Bali we have to start paying for. To our surprise D’s sister and mother have all been saving money for it already so we better get our butts moving.

No News Wednesday, Aug 6 2008

Still no news from the interview front. I did call to tell them that I had to update my references which they were happy to take from me which also gave them the prefect opportunity to say, thanls but we don’t need them as we chose someone else but they didn’t. But then maybe they couldn’t tell me and I have to wait for a letter to arrive in the mail

DAM I WANT THAT JOB!

It would be a good job for me actaully and the adoption leave is the same as mat leave there, mine currently is only 15DAYS can you believe it? So if I don’t get it this time I will be tryng again as soon as a job comes up that will fix again.

Interview Monday, Aug 4 2008

Well I went for the job, not sure how I went, wish I did more homework now but its to late for that. I thought that there would be a second interview but no second chance to redeem myself ;(

It looked like they would only have 4 people interview for the job as well. Dam if only I had prepared more. At least I will know for next time though.

I have been trying to get onto DHS to be able to have our Police Checks done which is the only thing holding up getting our application finalised but they are sooo slow, I don’t know if they would organise a root in a brothel truly!

Time to put the feet up? Thursday, Jul 31 2008

So the life stories are now complete and its only a matter of taking them to DHS on Monday to have our Police Checks done as well. Can’t wait to have it done with but have started to stress a bit about having to have 12 months off work. Oh don’t get me wrong, can’t wait to have 12 months off work but can we afford it? That’s another question really. Everyone keeps telling me that we will be fine but I can’t see it. I might have to work from home doing something little to at least bring in some funds but will have to keep it on the quiet as with DHS, no work is NO WORK in any way, shape or form. It’s funny really, I had been sick the start of this week with bad sinus problems but by Wednesday I had started to feel better, I knew that because that’s when my brain goes into overdrive and I start over thinking everything. Spreadsheets are even born on this day of overthinking.  

Also I applied for a position at our local council in the Local Laws department and I have an interview on Monday. I don’t think I will get it but will give it a good try. I think that their paid adoption leave has got to be better than a private organisation. Its funny, I used to think about maternity leave policies, now I wonder about their adoption leave, does that mean a switch has been flicked in my brain? That’s also got to be a good, positive thing.

D is spending money like its going out of fashion, he can’t see that paying his car loan is more important than buying guitar pickups! Just because we got our tax’s back, stupid me told him while he still had bids on stuff on eBay, so now they have been upped. I could kill him.

Now I have to also find a gentle way of getting our references to finish the references so that we can start to WAIT. My sister in-law hasn’t even started, my niece is 3/4 of the way through, my friend C is done and sent back and her mother S, well I don’t know where she’s at with hers but I;m sure C has given her a good reminder if it hasn’t been done.
