Info received Thursday, Jun 28 2007

Well last night we got some emails regarding forums that are coming up, on having a good look at a few of them I think we will attend the ‘Waiting for a Child Placement’, I really think that that forum could help us on our journey through this maze.

I also received my 5000 Miles DVD yesterday, about a couple who have been there, done that. It was heart breaking at first as they were contacted about twin girls in Poland but the first couple to be referred the girls actually accepted the referral so they missed out on them. However they did end up with their beautiful daughter Alley. I think its worth while getting a copy if you can. http://www.filmbaby.com/films/951

I have called the doctor’s office to get them to put a Blood test slip out for Darren as he didn’t get one and I’m worried the file would get sent back because of this. One step in front remember, thats how I like to have it, ME with one step in front.

Doctors appointment Tuesday, Jun 26 2007

Today I went done to my local doctor to have what I thought a standard medical, after all Darren when yesterday and all papers were signed off, but me nnnnnooooooooo way. I have to have blood tests done to check my sugars and cholsterol. Why do I have to have such a good doctor. As it is also close to ‘that time of the month’ I have to have my pee test done again to check for kidney function and diabetes. Dam pee, so that means I won’t be sending in my forms this week as will not be able to do the test until some time next week. Although on her scales I am really light at 74kilos although I know she’s wrong but sounds good. I’m also shorter compaired to her chart at 166cm when I’ve always stated 170cms. Who am I to say she’s wrong, especially with the weight????

Application arrived finally Thursday, Jun 21 2007

Finally our application (64 pages) arrived via email, along with a new schedule of fees, geez thanks for that!
So last night all alone at home, I started the long task of filling in the forms. One after another, slowly, slowly but they seem to be coming together. Rang the sister in-law and friend to make sure it was OK to put them down as my references. Oh I should just make a list for you of what was to be completed and what has been completed last night.

  1. Application to have names entered on an adoption list
  2. Application for approval as fit and proper person to adopt a child
  3. Police checks
  4. Statement of personal details – Financial Statement
  5. Commitment regarding spacing of children and infertility treatment
  6. Undertaking to advise the Inter country Adoption Service of change of circumstances
  7. Medical histories
  8. Doctors medicals and releases
  9. Names and contact details of 2 references each, 1 personal and 1 family member
  10. Cheque for $1291.05
  11. 2 photo’s
  12. Copies of:
  • Birth Certificates
  • Marriage Certificates
  • Citizenship Certificates (if applicable)

  • Working with Children Check for all person older than 18 years and resident in the household

So once poor Dazza arrived home this morning at 7am, I started to ask him questions, poor boy was delusional, as he had just worked from 7 pm the night before, I’ve let him go to sleep and will hammer him with question later.

GENEALOGY EXPERT
(OR PRETEND EXPERT)

I need to do our family tree for the adoption but really don’t know where to begin. As sad as it is, no one in mine or Dazza’s family know much about their heritage. I plan on changing that from here on out.
The only problem is resources. I plan on going to the State Library today as I believe that they have a ‘genealogy’ room and it has allot on information in it. I just have to work out how/what/when, I guess its just like a big game.

Any idea’s, hints or tips welcome :)

Well, surprise surprise Wednesday, Jun 20 2007

Tonight I found I had received an email from DHS asking if I had received the application kit that they had emailed me last week???? What the? Not here my friend. So don’t know if its actually the application I am waiting on or something else she was referring to. I do hope its the application, the sooner I get it the sooner we can get on with long drawn out process. I have provided 2 email addresses so there should be no reason I shouldn’t get it tomorrow. Might give them a call tomorrow to make sure.

No update really yet Thursday, Jun 14 2007

I called DHS today to see if they had received our ‘registration of interest’ and cheque as the cheque hadn’t been banked as yet. They assured me that they have received it but they don’t bank everyday. The only problem being is that they wait for the cheque to clear before sending out application pack. For people who are anticipating getting this next step, this is a painful process. Also asked questions like, if Dazza went casual, would that make a difference to our application and apparently it wouldn’t. I’ll wait and see on this as allot of places prefer a person to be ‘permanently’ employed, like banks as s forth. So the waiting continues until at least another 2 weeks I would say.

First time to see your baby – You Tube Sunday, Jun 10 2007

Isn’t it funny Saturday, Jun 9 2007

Its funny that I seem to have a calm settled over me, maybe because we have finally put to rest the IVF wizard, would it, wouldn’t it??? But now that we have made the commitment to move forward with Inter Country Adoption, it feels like its meant to be and now we just have to follow the ‘yellow brick road’ to our baby. I know that the road to the end can be a slow road but what could be slower than the 13 years we have already travelled. It now feels like ‘when’ not ‘if’.

I told my mum flippantly the other night that we are going to adopt from overseas and I didn’t think she heard me because there was no reaction, I then asked if she had heard me, she replied ‘yes, just do it’, I guess its not just us getting impatient waiting for this household to bring in a baby. I guess she has been waiting along time as well. I am the youngest of 4 kids and at 38 I think she was beginning to think it wouldn’t happen. Don’t get me wrong, she has known all along that we wanted them but has been just as disappointed that all of our treatment hasn’t work. Its hard on our mother’s as they can’t fix this problem for us. And as most mother’s, she takes this on as something she has done to me through genetics but its not anything to do with that but you can’t tell her that. It will just be a happy day when we arrive back in Australia with ‘our’ baby.

Just a little adoption video from YouTube Friday, Jun 8 2007

Part one now completed Friday, Jun 8 2007

Today I have posted my registration of interest along with our cheque of $104.30. Now we just have to await our application forms and be put into an education group, I have been advised that the education groups are booked out until August so won’t be anytime real soon.
